Call in the Cavalry

Here's a quick update with some more Bolt Action miniatures for a Very British Civil War. I build a quick telephone cell, because how else to call in the reinforcements?
Also finished some more riflemen and the first of the Grenadiers.

And now for something completely different.

A Very British Civil War.

It's been a while, and I've been mostly painting napoleonics and war of the roses. Yesterday though I stumbled across the decent chaps of a 'Very British Civil War'. The setting and pictures of a lot of fine painted units sparked my interest, so I rolled out the Bolt Action rules and a box of plastic British infantry from Warlord to see what I could come up with. For the moment I'm aiming at a generic British army list consisting of a command, 2 veteran 5 men squads, and 1 large 10 men squad. Expanding on this I'd probably add a motorcycle combination and a Rolls Royce armoured car. I'm basing my list on the Yorkist Front, but I haven't been able to read into it much yet.
Anyway, here are the first two units, for from finished, but it's a start.

Grenadier Guard, not much fluff yet, but I think they'll be painted up in a combination of red and white, being the colors of the flag of the city of York.

BP, BA and starting Saga

Hello Folks

Might I first wish you a colorful year of happy brushing and plastic dudesmen who will have a go at the hun, bayonets fixed!

Last wednesday I played my first game of Bolt Action and third game of Saga, with mister Corver. Both games play fast and are really enjoyable. They also inspired me to get some more painting done. We are also planning to have a game of Black Powder in the future, probable using the Albion T. book for 'point'values.

First up:
Black Powder, napoleonic French infantry, with wound counter.

I used to be an adventurer like you, but then I took a die to the knee. Hmm, no not funny indeed.

Next:
Bolt Action, Hermann Göring Medic and Panzerfaust carrying jerry

Next!
Wednesday I learned of the availability of the Byzantine warband for Saga. I've always loved the Lord of the Rings figures for the easternlands, so I thought this would be the perfect time to use them again. It's also a good excuse to get the plastic easterling cataphracts. Now only to find me a copy of WI issue 301, and the Saga rules, and dice. All in due time.

Goldclad lads, or ladies?

That's it for now, see you around!

Black Powder and Bolt Action

Hello Everyone,

Summer holidays have ended, so hobby time is reduced (hence the lack of updates). I'm still working on my Bolt Action Germans though, and have also painted my first Brit. It even turns out there is a club in the neighborhood where people are playing Bolt Action, so I might visit the place one of these days.

I'm not a 100% happy with my British uniform, I find it a bit to greyish. I'm opting for the 1st Canadian division, which saw action in Italy, probable running into some HG divisions along the way. For now I've painted the red patch of the canadian 1st, but I'm not sure which other insignia would be present on the arm or collar. (help appreciated!)
Stiff upper lip lads! (Do I need to re-do that eye? Maybe yes..)

Canadian 1st
And here some more finished Hermann Göring infantry. 5 man 'squad' finished!

The last few months my historical interest has been spreading from the second world war to the wars of the roses (perry plastics, yay!), and now my latest venture is a march into napoleonic Europe (perry plastics, yay!) guided by my recent purchase of Black Powder. At the moment I'm really eager to get painting all those bright and shiny uniforms of the age, but money is a little short, and I'm not even sure with which country I want to start. On one side I'm thinking of the Pruissians and Austrians; because shouting "Befelh ist befehl!" just has it's appeal. Then there's the French, with their wide variety of plastic cavalry being available, and of course the British, because who can resist a musket totting Scot with a kilt and bearskin hat! And then I'm almost forgetting the Russian bear, with it's lovely green uniforms. Oh the agony of choice!
I'm even considering starting two forces to pith against each other, preferable with some historical relevance. For the moment I'm only reading into the period, but I hope to have some painted miniatures by Christmas. In the meantime I hope to find some other Black Powder players, or people with an interest in the period, willing to take up the brush!

Hermann Göring infantry

These last days of my holiday I'm quite busy with the hobby, so yet another update!
Here is my first painted bolt action miniature, a Hermann Göring grenadier, with some wip-shots of the uniform. Enjoy

And the finished model:
