A Very British Civil War.
It's been a while, and I've been mostly painting napoleonics and war of the roses. Yesterday though I stumbled across the decent chaps of a 'Very British Civil War'. The setting and pictures of a lot of fine painted units sparked my interest, so I rolled out the Bolt Action rules and a box of plastic British infantry from Warlord to see what I could come up with. For the moment I'm aiming at a generic British army list consisting of a command, 2 veteran 5 men squads, and 1 large 10 men squad. Expanding on this I'd probably add a motorcycle combination and a Rolls Royce armoured car. I'm basing my list on the Yorkist Front, but I haven't been able to read into it much yet.
Anyway, here are the first two units, for from finished, but it's a start.
Brengunner of the 59th rifles
Grenadier Guard, not much fluff yet, but I think they'll be painted up in a combination of red and white, being the colors of the flag of the city of York.

For the White Rose!
A new retinue for the Yorkish. They're a welcome break from the napoleonics, as these can be painted up notably quicker. I've also got a box of mercenaries laying around ready for assemble. I'll put these on the accompaning 4 x 4,5 perry bases, because I guess it looks a lot better. When I've got a large enough force assembled, and I can find an opponent, I'm planning to use the Hail Caesar rules set, as I really like the mechanics for Black Powder.

Tiny Update
Yesterday I received my first 10mm French, and I immediately set to priming and painting them!
I even got some extra five figures with the order, some French and Austrians I believe.
Miniatures are from Bend Sinister's Redline. I've got two 2*2 bases painted, and the rest of the company half finished.

Grenadiers, Artillery and Cuirassiers
Update on my French Black Powder army:
I finished my first group of Grenadiers, artillery piece and the cuirassier command.
I've also ordered some 10mm French from Bend Sinister to see how that scale feels. It's probable more suited for larger battles, cheaper and easily transportable for doing a demo game. I'm expecting them this or next week, so expect to see some pictures of them as well. Besides that my time should be taken up by finishing the gebirgsjager FoW army before june 15.

Una volta un bellissimo villaggio.
On show today are some Italy themed terrain pieces I produced last week. I'm building these in anticipation of a new army I'm starting, which is the 5th Gebirgsjager division in Italy. This will also be the start of an early war army, for which I will use the Burning Empires book. I intend to make some more buildings, walls and maybe roads.

Saga Viking Warlord
My entry for the Tapestry's warlord painting competition.
This was really a motivation to sit down and spend some time on a nice miniature. For the shield I went with a freehand reindeer decoration. I'm not sure whether it's really historical, but I think it looks cool.
